So, it's been quite a while since we last posted anything. In fact, it's been since way before I (dean) had a break from school. I officially am now half way through with my education at Palmer, and boy does it feel good. So to celbrate we decided to help our friends the Perkins out and get all their stuff moved out of their house and cleaned so that they could move to our hometown of Federal Way. So all day friday we got to hang out with their kids while Jake graduated, then we all went out to Texas Roadhouse, then all came back, and helped move a bunch of stuff.
Saturday morning, all is well.
We go back to the Perkins, it's cleaning time, and since chelle and I are such dusting experts, (seriously, we dust everything, especially our baseboards, at least once a month), we are happily dusting and cleaning away. Well, time comes to finish the upstairs, everything's cleaned and moved out, except for the twins' crib and dresser, which consists of 4 stackable plastic drawers, only filled with baby clothes, no problem for me, right? Well, earlier in the day, unbeknownst to me, the kids put their coloring books on the stairs, which is what I totally would have done as a kid when told to 'put my things away', that or just throw them down the stair and put holes in the drywall that mom has to fix, then do it again with steel toed boots. But my former destructive habits aside, I'm coming down the stairs carrying about 4 feet of boxes, when my left foot hits the coloring books, I'm leaning back to counter-balance, and I don't want to drop boxes on my wife who is right in front of me. Badabing, badaboom, I twist my ankle and knee, feels like I've broken both of them, chelle thinks I've hurt my back because of how it's arched and I don't want her to touch me. Finally I get up, knee pain goes away, and I hop down to the couch. Time to go home.
At home I keep my foot up the rest of the day with a bag of frozen peas on it, barely able to move anything since it hurts so much. That night I sleep with my foot uncovered and elevated.
Sunday morning, all is not well.
So we drive to Iowa City, since the only insurance we can get requires us to go to Iowa City to get treatment. I've always joked about having chelle drive me to the emergency room there, But now it's come true. Fortunatly I've just taken a class that taught me the rules about when they X-Ray and ankle and when not, so my pain was in just the right places, and it really was, to warrent films being taken. Good news, no break, so either I'm a wuss or it's a really bad sprain.
The rest of the day, monday, and tuesday I've got to use crutches, and it kills when I move my foot. But my wonderful wife took such good care of me that I got better fast and now I can walk, but my body forgot how to walk correctly so now I've got a limp and when I twist it wrong it 'hurts real bad'. So my break from school pretty much consisted of me sitting around, which wasn't a bad thing, and now it's time for life to start rolling on again.

And just for fun, here's a pic of me watching TV in my awesome footed p.j.'s on my parents' awesome waterbed.

Oww! Just reading about that fall makes me sore! I'm sorry you had such a nasty fall. Sounds like you had someone lovely to care for you. Love the pic! I remember only too well when you looked just like that! Cute boy then, cute guy now.
wow- the word verification for this post is "scroaeb" sounds like what you did to your body on the fall...
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience! Bummer. I guess we need to be sending more flowers and candy to the sheldon house.
EEK! Sorry I asked. Dean, sorry to hear about your injury! I hope all continues to heal quickly and properly. Congrats on your schooling being half way over! Yaaaaaayyyyyy!!!
Ohhh you silly boy, news flash bro, you are a wuss!!! And I mean that in the nicest way! Mucho love. do you know when they are arriving here? I could possibly help them move into the house.... Maybe I will call you. Well good job on the not breaking of the bones. And.... I don't remember the water in the bed, I only remember the frame, and was that mam's old room? I don't even remember it looking like that at all. How old was I?
Is that an awesome Commodore 64 in the picture of you watching TV? It looks kind of like one, but I guess it could be a different totally old school computer or something. Just wondering.
Anyway, glad to hear about what you guys have going on again. I finished Elantris (good times) and have started Mistborn (great times). How far have you gotten into Brandon Sanderson's stuff?
um, it probably is, it wouldn't surprise me. I've read elantris, and mistborn. I still need to get the 2nd mistborn though. I'm a fan. Have you read Patrick Rothfuss' book yet?
I haven't ever heard of Patrick Rothfuss. Does he have something to do with the last Wheel of Time book?
