Stupid persistent sinus infection...

That is a self portrait of me a half hour ago. Ok, I kid. But that is what I feel like I look like right now.
~
This gol' dang sinus infection is just kicking my butt. I've never had one before so just when I think it's getting better, WHAM!, it comes back with a vengence 5 times harder the next day. I'm just thankful that my teeth don't all pulse with pain anymore, that's prety sporadic, but the pressure in my sinuses and the 'I just swallowed a fistful of razor blades' sore throat are still killing. I just wish that the floodgates would open and let all the infected crud drain out. I would gladly stay up all night with a box of tissues for that.
~
But I'm off to school to go do some massages. I only have 2 more days of clinic after today and finals are coming up next week and I'm in uber panic mode. I graduate on the 18th of April and then it's uber uber study time for boards and then to find a jobby job.

Happy Easter everyone!!!...

It's 11:38PM so it's not too late to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We hope you all had a wonderful day and that the Easter Bunny treated you well.
~
The Easter Bunny hopped on past our house since the Car Repair Fairy came by a couple of days ago and stole hundreds of dollars from us. Oh well. We'll just have to steal our friends candy.
~
I woke up this morning and wanted to die. I must have a sinus infection or something but I feel like crap. My top teeth all ache so badly and feel like they are all going to fall out at any given second. It hurts to look at bright lights. I'm a snot factory. It kills to swallow. My heart is having palpitations. My head is swimming. All the joints in my body ache. So needless to say, I stayed home and slept for as long as I could today and I just feel like I'm getting worse. However, Dean feels just fine which I am grateful for. Our "Easter Dinner" consisted of me eating chicken noodle soup and Dean had a can of ravioli. I know, we go all out when we really don't have to. And later, as I'm laying on the couch trying to think about anything but my aching teeth and joints, our friend Robyn comes over and sees Dean trouncing around our house in his undershirt (it was hilarious), he runs to put on his shirt, and she was sweet enought to bring over a coconut cake. I can't wait to get my taste buds back so that I can try it. She's an awesome cook.
~
So that was our Easter Sunday. Beat that.

Chase's visit to Iowa Part 1...

Dean's wonderful 15 year old brother, Chase, came out to stay with us this last week since he had Spring Break and we are so glad he did. We had a really fun time with him and we think he had a good time with us too...

This was pretty much the common sight around our house when we weren't doing anything. Chase brought his Wii with him from AZ and he brought Super Smash Brothers and seriously, I think they must have clocked a good 15-20 hours on it in the 6 days he was here.

Once we finally got our car back, (it broke down on Friday and we had to be towed to a repair shop, the crankshaft speed sensor busted and a couple hundred bucks later it was fixed and we also had to rent a car to get by until we got our Jetta back, so needless to say, we're pretty strapped for cash now!) we decided that Chase needed to learn to drive a manual. He did awesome. Seriously, he was a natural. He did way better than I did when I was first learning to drive one. We took him over to the church parking lot and let him have at it. If you look at the above picture, he's trying not to smile because he's turning on the car for the first time. It was adorable.

And he's off. He practiced on Monday just in the church parking lot and then we went back on Tuesday and let him practice some more and then told him that he was going to drive home. He was a bit nervous but we took him on backroads and he did just fine. So now of course he wants a manual for his first car.

We went shooting out in Princeton, IA on Thursday and even though it was frickin freezing out, we all had a good time. Chase got to shoot our Remingon 870 Express (he'd never shot a shotgun before), our Colt .45 1911, and our KelTek P32. Now we have to restock our ammo because those boys went through it like it was going out of style.

He just fired it. You can see the smoke coming out of the barrel.

He thinks he's Rambo.

Doing what brothers should do. Shoot stuff.

We went to Red Robin and can't you tell that Chase loves being side hugged by Dean?

Then we went and saw Jumper and beforehand they had to have a little DDR competition.

I don't know what Dean was doing with his arms but it's hilarious.

Chase's visit to Iowa Part 2...

We took Chase up to Maquoketa Caves on Friday afternoon and that was the highlight of the trip to me. Chase was dying to see snow since they obviously never get any in AZ and he got his snow. Granted, it wasn't falling out of the sky but beggars can't be choosers. The above picture is the first cave they shimmied through. It was awesome.

Chase sliding down some rocks in a cave.

There was a huge stalactite behind us. Of course Dean and Chase tried to break every ice stalactite and stalagmite they saw but those suckers don't budge.

Yeah, that's a group of bats. Dean and Chase ventured into a big cave that is closed during the winter due to hibernating bats but no sign was going to keep them out of there.

Ewwww, scary bats. Ok, I'm kidding. They weren't afraid of any bats. I was the scaredy cat. I ventured in far enough to see one and then I was outta there. Dean and Chase hiked the whole cave and I just sat there and waited forever.

Chase's visit to Iowa Part 3...

Like I said, he loves snow. He was like a crazy puppy on crack, all bounding through the snow and whatnot.

I'm holding on for dear life because it's so crazy slippery since half of everything was coated with ice. Chase had just fallen on his bum and back 2 seconds before this was taken.

Chase found an impromptu ice skating rink and promptly did triple axels and backflips to show off. Can you see him in the picture?

I love Chase's "smile". Cheese head.

Yeah, 2 seconds later they were trying to kick it over and carve stuff into it. Boys.

Token self portrait in cave.

Yes, if you think he is dancing around like a fairy, you're right. He was leaping through the snow.

Dean is pooped after hiking through caves and up stairs. We played hard.

We then went home and I made pizza and apparently Chase doesn't know how to eat it. Or it burnt his tongue. I forget.

And like I said, this was a common sight at our house. Wii time.
We loved having him here. He brought a wonderful feeling into our home and we want him to come back. We told him he could just stay and we'd enroll him in school on Monday but for some reason he wasn't too keen on that. We went bowling, Dean and Chase saw I Am Legend, the 3 of us saw 10,000 B.C., went out to Mexican, Chase and Dean drove through Chicago when Dean picked him up, Chase went to school with Dean 1 day but for some reason he thought it was kind of boring, went out for Chinese, we all had a good time. We do love our Chase.

I've been a slackasaurus...

I have been a bloggin slackasaurus these past couple of weeks but I am back from the brink.

As you saw from 2 posts ago, Dean had quite the break from school. Almost literally. HA! I just laughed out loud at my own pun! I'm awesome. Anyways, he in fact did take a tumble on our friends stairs while helping them move. As a result, we have now devoted our lives to burning all slippery cover coloring books so don't be suprised if your children's coloring books magically disappear in the middle of the night and you find a pile of ashes in your sink.

Waiting for the doctor.

That's his best "I'm in pain so give me sympathy" face. I punched him in the ankle right after that.

He learned his lesson to not make that face so now all he will do is make happy faces all the time.

It was a good week.
(I'm not really violent and shame on you for thinking I am!)

All you ever wanted to know about honig...

I was tagged by Ash to do a posting about my honig but most of the questions she's asked, I did in a previous post, so I conjured up a different one so I could fulfil the task of being tagged because I am not one to disappoint. Okay, yeah, so sometimes I am but not today....

(1998 Olympics. He took 2nd)

What is his name? Donald.....no, that's not it. Drew.....nope, not that one either. Dennis.... doesn't sound right. Dirk.....I think I'm getting closer. Dunder-Mifflin......yeah that's it. Dunder-Mifflin. That's his name.

What is his profession and how did he choose it? Right now he is a professional Loan Accumulator and I must say he is pretty darn good at his job. He has entered an elite circle of the 6-Digit Club, and I am pushing him to try a little harder and see if he can't make it into the 7-Digit Club. Oh, and in his spare time he goes to chiropractic school and studies quite a bit. But that's only when he's not on the phone haggling with Palmer seeing if he can't get tuition raised another $100,000 per year to hopefully make that 7-Digit Club. Go baby! I support you all the way!

When and how did you meet your spouse? Vegas. High Rollers room in the Bellagio. Our eyes met across the table after I had just put down a $60,000 bet on blackjack and he had just put a cool $90,000 on roulette. It was love at first sight. We took in a Celine Dion show. Rode the roller coaster on top of the stratosphere. Got married in the same chapel as Elvis and Priscilla. The best weekend of our lives.

Ok, how did you REALLY meet your spouse? I met him at church before he left on his mission to Switzerland and Germany, and he was all kinds of in love with me but I was dating another guy at the time, but honest to goodness, I don't have any concrete memories to draw on him of pre-mission. But 2 years later he was giving his homecoming talk in our singles ward at church and he didn't recognize me until he was giving his talk up on the stand (I had blonde blonde hair before he left and I had gone back to my natural brown while he was away) and while he was talking he looked at me and he all of a sudden realized who I was and he fell in love with me all over again. He asked me out after sacrament, I begrudgingly said yes (I have a rule that if a guy has the courage to ask you out, you owe him a date no matter what because that is one of the most intimidating things in the whole world), I almost cancelled our date because he started hiccuping next to me in Sunday School (don't ask), we went on our date, I fell asleep on our date, went home at 2:30AM and that was that. We were friends for a little while at first and then I discovered I had feelings for him and then 16 months later we were sealed in the Seattle Temple for time and all eternity.

Who vacuums? If we lived in a Utopian world and owned a Dyson like Ash does, I would vacuum every day of my life too. But I don't and we have our little green Eureeka that my rockin' mother-in-law gave us for our wedding and it's hanging on to its last little amp of life so we'll make do with what we have. Dean and I switch off vacuuming. I'm pretty neurotic about vacuuming under our couches and coffee table and vacuuming at our baseboards (if you know me, you know dust makes my skin crawl) so we just take turns moving the furniture and the other one just vacuums right along.

Who could win a thumb war contest? Sadly to say, I always lose. Even after I have developed these massive thumb muscles from massaging, he's just got the quickness.

How do you settle disputes? Rock. Paper. Scissors. Is there another way because, if so, we sure haven't learned it.

What is the one thing people probably don't know about your spouse? He LOVES to read. I'm not talkin' about just casually loving reading. He LOVES it and would read every single second of the day if he could. There have been many many many MANY a night where we will say our prayers, go to bed, and I'm out cold within 3 minutes and honig will stay up until 2 or 3 AM with his little Petzl headlamp on and will just read to his heart's content. I'll roll over and barely open my eyes because I notice there's a faint light coming from my husbands head and I think I'm seeing an angel but then I just realize it's his headlamp.

Now you know a little more about my honig and the goodness that is him.

Ok, ok, we're back!

So, it's been quite a while since we last posted anything. In fact, it's been since way before I (dean) had a break from school. I officially am now half way through with my education at Palmer, and boy does it feel good. So to celbrate we decided to help our friends the Perkins out and get all their stuff moved out of their house and cleaned so that they could move to our hometown of Federal Way. So all day friday we got to hang out with their kids while Jake graduated, then we all went out to Texas Roadhouse, then all came back, and helped move a bunch of stuff.

Saturday morning, all is well.

We go back to the Perkins, it's cleaning time, and since chelle and I are such dusting experts, (seriously, we dust everything, especially our baseboards, at least once a month), we are happily dusting and cleaning away. Well, time comes to finish the upstairs, everything's cleaned and moved out, except for the twins' crib and dresser, which consists of 4 stackable plastic drawers, only filled with baby clothes, no problem for me, right? Well, earlier in the day, unbeknownst to me, the kids put their coloring books on the stairs, which is what I totally would have done as a kid when told to 'put my things away', that or just throw them down the stair and put holes in the drywall that mom has to fix, then do it again with steel toed boots. But my former destructive habits aside, I'm coming down the stairs carrying about 4 feet of boxes, when my left foot hits the coloring books, I'm leaning back to counter-balance, and I don't want to drop boxes on my wife who is right in front of me. Badabing, badaboom, I twist my ankle and knee, feels like I've broken both of them, chelle thinks I've hurt my back because of how it's arched and I don't want her to touch me. Finally I get up, knee pain goes away, and I hop down to the couch. Time to go home.

At home I keep my foot up the rest of the day with a bag of frozen peas on it, barely able to move anything since it hurts so much. That night I sleep with my foot uncovered and elevated.

Sunday morning, all is not well.

So we drive to Iowa City, since the only insurance we can get requires us to go to Iowa City to get treatment. I've always joked about having chelle drive me to the emergency room there, But now it's come true. Fortunatly I've just taken a class that taught me the rules about when they X-Ray and ankle and when not, so my pain was in just the right places, and it really was, to warrent films being taken. Good news, no break, so either I'm a wuss or it's a really bad sprain.

The rest of the day, monday, and tuesday I've got to use crutches, and it kills when I move my foot. But my wonderful wife took such good care of me that I got better fast and now I can walk, but my body forgot how to walk correctly so now I've got a limp and when I twist it wrong it 'hurts real bad'. So my break from school pretty much consisted of me sitting around, which wasn't a bad thing, and now it's time for life to start rolling on again.

And just for fun, here's a pic of me watching TV in my awesome footed p.j.'s on my parents' awesome waterbed.
