It's decorating time...

Christmas always comes early in our humble little abode. As in the day after Halloween. But since we were in Washington for Halloween this year, Christmas set up had to wait until Nov 9th which was a little too long for comfort but whaddya do?!

Honig setting up our tree.

It's a tradition that we each get our own cheapie Advent calendar.

Every year we get a picture frame ornament with the year monogrammed on it and then put in a picture of whatever the biggest event for us as a couple from that year was. So this year either a picture of us finding out we were pregnant, or if Peanut decides she wants to be born in 2008, we'll put in a picture of the 3 of us at her birth. We figure after many more years of marriage, we'll be able to just have a tree with just picture frame ornaments all over it and it'll be cool to see that all the changes we have gone through as a family will be respresented on there and our grandchildren can see how their parents have changed over the years.

Attempting to put the star on the top of the tree.

But apparently it was a little too heavy. Honig eventually jimmied it on there and it stays put now.

More ultrasound pics...

This one was for her Daddy. A perfect little picture of her spine. No subluxations for our baby.

Another one where you can see part of her spine and her cute little noggin and side profile of her face.
Our favorite picture of Peanut. It's actually our background on both of our cell phones. She has her right arm and hand drawn up to her face and it almost looks like she is sucking her thumb but she wasn't. She had just drawn it up to the side of her face right before this was taken.

Here's proof that she's a girl! No little boy bits between her legs!
A head shot of her. You can see her eyes, little nose, and her mouth. SO CUTE!

Another face shot. Her left cheekbone is so chunka..

And another face shot of our baby girl.
It is the most amazing feeling to see our baby playing and moving around during an ultrasound, and it's pretty much impossible for me not to cry from indescribable love for her while watching her. Honig will even admit that he has shed a tear or two in the ultrasound room. It's so mind boggling to see this little person that we have created together who is going to look like us, and who will depend on us for everything. Bring on the sleepless nights, 12+ feedings per day, poopy diapers, blowouts, crying, and anything else that she feels like doing. She's worth all of it.

Oldies but goodies...

I found a couple of pictures that I apparently forogt to put in some older posts. So here you have them...

At our appointment right after we found out we were having a perfect baby girl.

Look at that proud Daddy.

And an all-too-proud Mommy.

Me looking through her baby book. I bought it at Burlington Coat Factory and it is perfect. It has everything I wanted in a baby book for her. I highly recommend their baby memorabilia section.

Ahhhhh, the pumpkin. Honig HATES that pumpkin but I LOVE it.
And I am starting to realize that I wear that hoodie a lot. It's not my fault it's so warm and fuzzy. I'm sure it'll go to the back of our closet when it gets washed too many times and the inside gets all sandpaper-esque.

Only reason this picture is on there is because I have awesome laser beam eyes in that one. Go on, click on it. You'll be mesmerized.

That's how my man rolls in the morning. Too cute.

Food tastes so much better when it's resting on my stomach.

3 years bay-BEE!...

On October 8th, Honig and I celebrated 3 years of our rockin' marriage. It's gone by so quickly but yet it seems like we've been together forever. Best. 3. Years. EVER.
After Honig was all done with school and clinic, we decided to "splurge" and go to Osaka Steak House and split a dinner. That's how we roll. We almost never ever get our own entrees because it just doubles the price and 1 meal is usually more than enough to fill up 2 tummies. Anyways, the food was delish and our chef was oh-so-talented with his fires he would start and his flinging food everywhere and catching it behind his back.

I bought him Brisingr, a book he had wanted, but we ended up taking it back because Dean's mom had just told him not to buy it if he hadn't already because she was going to bring out his brother's copy of it when she flies out after Peanut is born. Hey, we'll take it, that saved us $16. Thanks Mom!!

" Ummm, a speederboard? Thanks Chelle." I used it as a filler to throw him off....

...For his glider airplanes! I don't know why he loves 'em but he does.

We don't eat Bugles. We eat Buslegs.

Mmmmmm, firey food.

Lovin' the show.

But lovin' him most of all.

Wonderful birthday present...

Our neverending search for safe and sturdy nursery furniture (you wouldn't believe how many crush-your-baby-to-death-recall-ridden cribs there are out there) finally came to an end the day before my birthday. I would casually check ebay every now and then to see what cribs and nursery sets were being sold within 200 miles of us and most of the time it seemed like private sellers were charging more than what the stores were selling their cribs for. On the 23rd of Sept, I happened to run across this new listing for a nursery set up in Batavia, IL (45 min south of Chicago) and it was GORGEOUS and in perfect condition. I emailed the seller and asked her what her "buy it now" price was as she didn't have one listed and after emailing back a couple of times and randomly throwing in the mention that the next day was my birthday and it would be the most wonderful present ever (use that excuse whenever you can, my friends), she emailed me on my birthday and decided to sell it to me for a fraction of what she was asking because we clicked and they didn't need the money. I'll just tell you, we got the deal of the millenium on it. Their baby never chewed on it,and there are hardly any dings or scratches on it. This couple takes impeccable care of their possessions. Honig and I drove up to Batavia on Sept 25th to pick it up and they were quite possibly one of the nicest couples we have ever met. They were rich beyond belief and we felt like peasants in their mansion of a home. She gave us tons of free baby stuff she had never used, and she wouldn't accept payment for them no matter what. After loading everything up, Honig and I drove away in silent awe and appreciation and it took us a while to believe that we were as lucky as we were. It just showed us that Heavenly Father will answer our prayers- even if it's about finding nursery furniture.
Drinking my way up to Batavia.

Handsome Daddy-to-be driving to Batavia. And that's all the pictures we snapped of our trip. Oops.

Honig and our friend Jeff setting up Peanut's dresser/changing table/hutch in her room. The hutch has adjustable shelves and you can take it off if you just want it to be a dresser/changing table.

Putting the screws in the back.

Honig putting together her crib.

Look at that hard working Daddy.

But he's being good and reading instructions.

Getting ready to put her mattress in her new bed.

We are all about the pull out drawer underneath the crib. It stores all her blankets now.

Awwww, what a proud Daddy.

And now a proud Mommy and Daddy.

Loves.
We can't wait for her to get here.

Chelle's Happy Bird-day...

Happy Bird-day!

If you didn't get that, quit reading right this second and go and watch all existing episodes of The Office.

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

Ahhh, is there no Office quote that my 27 year old brain cannot retain? Probably. That's right, my brain officially turned 27 on the 24th of September.

Honig had school and clinic that day, but we went out to Crazy Wok when he got home since I was craving some Phad Thai like nobody's business.

Pre dinner lovey picture.

Loving our little Peanut.

Awww, we love her so much.

I'm glowing for Crazy Wok. Mmmmm, spicy Phad Thai.

I'm starting to cry in this picture because Honig wrote me a card from Peanut. It was one of the absolute sweetest things I have ever read. Definitely a keeper.

Peanut and Honig gave me a Willow Tree pregnant mommy figurine. It's in Peanut's room on one of her shelves right now.

Honig had the nastiest curry. But he loved it so that's all that matters.

Notice how my food is all gone. It was delish.

Then we went out to Cold Stone Creamery for some free birthday ice cream. Bring on the chocolate mint ice cream any day of the week. My friend Emily was also so sweet and dropped off a pan of these scrumptious rocky road brownies. She's pretty much awesome.

I had a wonderful birthday with my handsome hubby. 10 more months until the next one.

Part II Boards...

I'm pretty sure that I just saw this very question on Jeopardy last week... "Chiropractic students must take this many sets of National Boards in order to become a nationally certified chiropractor and as payment, they would also like this many limbs as well."

Alex, what are 4?

Correct, for $200.

Honig took his 2nd part of Boards on Sept 12th, out of 4 parts total that he'll take. Part 3 will be taken in March 2009 and Part 4 will be taken in May 2009, and we have each decided to sell a kidney on the black market to pay for these ostentatiously expensive tests. I checked into it, and I can still breastfeed with 1 kidney so I'm good to go.

Of course Honig woke up 8 seconds before he had to leave to go sign in to start liquifying his hippocampus for hours on end; we figured he should have the breakfast of champions before he headed out. A strawberry and cream cheese Toaster Strudel. Manna from heaven.

Ash, this one is for you. He was making the nervous "Llllllllllllll" sound that you so graciously taught us. See?! He's even making the face!

"Bye Honig! Make sure to pick up some milk and cereal on your way home! Love you! Oh yeah, good luck! But seriously, don't forget to go to the store!"

Fast forward 6 weeks to October 24th.

Our lovely computer decided it wanted to crash so we were forced to go the public library and use the public computers to check his scores. They make you wait 6 excruciating weeks to find out how you did, and Honig never sleeps well the night before for fear that he is going to fail.

So we mosey on over to the library, and when I say "mosey", I really mean I barely manage to jump into an already accelerating car because Honig has such tunnel vision to get there that he thinks that the McDonald's take out bag sitting on the drivers seat is me, but he realizes it actually isn't his pregnant wife when he reaches over to hold my hand and all he feels is a crumpled up double cheesburger wrapper. "Chelle, you really need to start using some lotion on your hands because they're all dry and crac...Oh My!! Sorry honey! I thought you were already in the car!" At which point I have just managed to hurdle myself into the passenger seat and then punch him in the thigh and whip out my voodoo doll of him and stick a needle through some very essential anatomical parts I figure he will NEVER need again and then put a curse on him through struggling for gasps of air.

2 minutes later, we're at the library and all is well. I get out the hydrochloric acid I keep in my purse and douse the keyboard with it and then get out my handy dandy blowtorch and all but incinerate the keyboard because I saw the person who was just using it before us, and it seems that they think one hand belongs on the keyboard and the other one belongs in their nose and they like to switch off which is which. After the smoke clears and the fire alarms have been turned off, Honig sits down to check his scores. Checking his scores always goes a little something like this...

-He gets really nervous.

-He doesn't talk for a minute.

-I'm not allowed to make any jokes or wisecracks because I'm not funny at that moment to him. Nothing in the entire universe is.

-He logs into the site where his scores are posted.

-He clicks on Part II Results and immediately looks at his scores to see if they are passing.

-OF COURSE THEY ARE! All of them. He's crazy smart.

-He tries not to crack a smile then he can't help it and it grows into a big old grin.

-He poses for a picture for me.

-He goes back to looking at his scores and how he did in each section.

-He gets really serious again and starts to talk to himself outloud asking why he did better on some parts than others.

-He stares at the screen for at least 5 minutes soaking it in.

-I, of course, take another picture of him.

-I give him a smooch and tell him "Good joerb" (and yes, I say "joerb") in my high sqeaky voice he loves.

-He is happy and that is all that matters.

"I passed! Phew."

"Wow. Seriously, I can't believe I passed, and I didn't do half bad."

He didn't do badly at all.

Now back to seriously studying those scores again.

Welcome to the enigma that is known as my husband.

GOOD JOERB HONIG! I knew you would pass with flying colors! I'm so proud of you. 2 down, 2 to go.
